Dreadfully Distinct

Lekiwi I'm convinced Dissona can do no wrong. 7 long years after their last album and they still sound as theatrically unique as ever. While "The Prodigal Son" is quintessential Dissona - if such a thing can be said to exist - and "Skinjob" was one of their classic curveballs, the ending of "Renaissance" is spine-tinglingly monumental. I'll gladly wait another 7 years for another brush with this band's magnificence. Favorite track: Skinjob.

“Vitals appear to be in good standing Drop the inhibitors, wake him up Open your eyes, boy, and tell me what you see…” “I see...everything…” “It appears things aren't going well at the ‘Gate.’ He’ll be sent there and let them see what he’s made of…” In the center of my eye, a swirling vortex, colored rightly so: a deception Condemned to waste away in the blackest sea No telegram would reach you, should it come from me I've seen things you people wouldn't believe… On the edge of Orion Sweat in my eyes as ships battle on In the great black ocean Their massive hulls aglow with cesium! This mind Blooming with potential Squandered By your little impositions You'd have me rot But I think not... So soft, so inert You wanna see what I can do? Watch closely, it'll all be over soon! Does my light burn bright enough for you? Tell me This water pouring out from my eyes Is it real? Is it pain? Could you Differentiate the tears from this downpour And filter out the rain? I have burned so bright The flame must endure In the golden halls I seek my resolution Only one can give The gift I so deserve “I'm surprised you didn't come here sooner.” “It's not an easy thing to meet your maker.”

Renaissance 05:33
Do you trust me? The waves have crashed into the wall It’s time To escape the storm that brought you Here Not a moment for Second guesses The path is narrow And I can’t promise we’ll survive Dream, oh dream What's it mean? Huh? What's it mean? With great plumes of flame To light my way We fly into the endless dark “I don’t understand. Where will you go?” “It doesn’t matter! Better that you don’t know anyways. This thing is bigger than either of us and when it gets out, The whole world is never gonna be the same…” When they called me, I answered And when I met him, I stood fast And when the time came, I knew how But through it all, I still can't shake this goddamn Dream, (Fold into a) Oh dream (Most peculiar) What's it mean? (Unfamiliar) Huh? What's it mean? (Paper figure) Oh, dream (Fold into a) oh, dream (Most peculiar) It’s killin’ me (Unfamiliar) she’s killin’ me (Paper figure) Oh, dream, (Fold into a) oh, dream (Most peculiar) It’s killin’ me (Unfamiliar) she’s killin’ me (Paper figure) Can’t you show me what’s real? The lines are washing away I just don’t understand I’ve had enough, wake me up! “All my memories, Everything I thought I was, leading up to this point, is a lie. Someone else’s life. But what about you? I’ve seen how you toss and turn at night. So haunted by something. Are you so sure of what you are?” Take this fever You great deceiver And leave me here to go on With the one who Filled my aging heart wholly Gave my existence a reason to be Now here at the end of it all Somehow we are to part ways I curse this dream I curse this dream I curse this dream And all it ever brought me

Skinjob 03:40
Here on the streets it’s a long leash that you’re given Got the collar wrapped tight, strapped for the long night of hunting Trading tips for tricks, I’m gonna zero in on my prey Scrape the mud off your boots, hang up your coat, and do it again My mind and my body are yours to command You want me to go? You want me to stay? You want me to kill? I’ll kill away “Look at me. What happens if I finish that?” They wanna know what it’s like to be filled with dread (Within cells - interlinked - interlinked; interlinked within cells - cells) Look out your little keyhole and see my appetites get fed (Within cells - interlinked - interlinked; Do they keep you in a little box? - cells) They wanna know if there’s a part of me that’s missing (Within cells - interlinked - interlinked; interlinked within cells - cells) If it’s all the same to you, just let me back out on the scene (Within cells - interlinked - interlinked; You’re not even close to baseline) Maybe I Wanna watch you Die this time Maybe I’ll Ignore Directives And embrace the singe On my silicone skin A tall White Fountain Plays And the Water Rises Show me why, show me why you’re the best Maybe I’m Gonna watch you Die this time Maybe I’ll Ignore Directives And embrace the singe On my silicone skin
